Couch Potato Greys is a non profit group of greyhound owners dedicated to finding loving, commited families for the retired racing greyhound.
If you are interested in adopting a former racing greyhound, please fill out our application and forward it back to us. You will then be contacted to arrange your initial interview, and answer any questions you have regarding the available greyhounds. Addtional information regarding the racing greyhound is available in the book Retired Racing Greyhounds for Dummies.
You may also see the available and already adopted greyhounds at the periodic Meet and Greets we have listed under the events page. All of our available greyhounds are in foster homes and are adjusting to the real world of stairs, grass, traffic noise and of course the couch.
Greyhounds are a docile and tolerant breed that makes the best pets for families with children that respect the pet. They are not a fragile dog, but can't tolerate rough play with children and other dogs. They are not an agreesive breed, but will protect itself when provoked. As with all dogs, supervision is required until you are sure everyone is getting along. Greyhounds should never be left alone for more than 8 hours.
Greyhounds MUST LIVE INDOORS and never kept in a doghouse, on a tied outside leash, or let loose in a unfenced area. They can reach speeds up to 45 MPH and can easily break their neck if they decide to run.
